These systems were designed to filter, rank, and sort r\u00e9sum\u00e9s, often eliminating strong candidates before a human ever sees them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember521\">So, in many cases, we&#8217;ve been selecting people based on their <strong>application-writing skills<\/strong>, not necessarily the skills required for the job itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember522\">Now that everyday people have access to tools like <strong>ChatGPT<\/strong>, there\u2019s suddenly an uproar when applicants try to optimize their chances?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember523\">My two cents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember524\">\ud83d\udc9a <em>If you\u2019re curious, read on.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember525\">\ud83d\uddb1\ufe0f <em>If not, just keep scrolling.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember526\">Also, if you hate AI, here\u2019s a photo \ud83d\udcf8 of my husband and me in Pisa, generated by AI \ud83d\ude04<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-rounded\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/agronomix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1742759699740-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"Enid and husband in Pisa - AI generated\" class=\"wp-image-32691\" srcset=\"https:\/\/agronomix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1742759699740-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/agronomix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1742759699740-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/agronomix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1742759699740-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/agronomix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1742759699740-18x10.jpeg 18w, https:\/\/agronomix.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1742759699740.jpeg 1279w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember528\">No, but seriously, this trend is mostly just noise to grab attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember529\">I\u2019ve reviewed many applications over the years and have seen far too many <strong>#greatcandidates<\/strong> rejected for ridiculous reasons, such as a small typo, a photo that doesn\u2019t meet cultural expectations (especially in Europe), or even a slightly imperfect formatting choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember530\">So, is it really surprising that people are now using AI to clean up their documents and improve their chances?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember531\">Most applicants put genuine effort into customizing their r\u00e9sum\u00e9s and cover letters, yet still don\u2019t receive even a basic rejection message. Maybe it\u2019s time to rethink how we <strong>#evaluate<\/strong> <strong>#talent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember532\">And isn\u2019t it ironic? <strong>Recruiters and hiring managers<\/strong> already use AI tools to scan r\u00e9sum\u00e9s, shortlist candidates, and automate repetitive tasks. If AI is acceptable to make their jobs easier, why is it suddenly unethical when <strong>#jobseekers<\/strong> use it to improve their odds?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember533\">Instead of dismissing applicants for using AI, why not focus on what really matters: <strong>#skills<\/strong> and <strong>#experience<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember534\">Also, can we please stop overanalyzing how cover letters begin? I\u2019ve seen posts where people were offended by \u201cDear Hiring Manager.\u201d Really? If it\u2019s that important to you, why not just include the hiring manager\u2019s name in the job posting?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember535\">Why make people go around asking, guessing, or worse, getting ignored? You\u2019d probably receive fewer generic emails if the information was accessible. Why make it inefficient?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember536\">I\u2019ve personally reached out to companies trying to find out who the hiring manager was, only to be met with vague or inconsistent responses.
